India Lift Travel Restrictions

On March 27th India finally lifted its ban on scheduled international flights, two years after most foreign flights were suspended from operating amid the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.

A limited number of air bubble flights between India and select countries, including the UK, have continued to operate (under their own restrictions) despite the suspension, thanks to a bilateral agreement between the UK and Indian governments. However, after a statement by the Civil Aviation Ministry (CAM) the country has now decided to lift the ban due to increased vaccination coverage across the globe.

CAM reported: “After having recognised the increased vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with the stakeholders, the Government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from 27.03.2022, i.e. start of Summer Schedule 2022.”

International travellers arriving in India will need to follow all guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Passengers must also submit a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal and upload a negative PCR Covid test result, conducted within 72 hours before the journey, or upload a certificate to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
